Kenosha, Wisconsin: A Hidden Jewel

I live about one half hour away from Kenosha, Wisconsin, and until July of this year [2008], Allan and I had only driven through the outskirts of the town. A friend told me that I should "check it out" because of its location on Lake Michigan, its new marina area, its three historic districts, and its new museums.

So, on a lovely July afternoon, my husband and I drove to Kenosha, Wisconsin to "check it out!"

Pros and Cons
  • Pros:Location on Lake Michigan, lots of beaches, parks, historic sites/sights, museum, historic districts
  • Cons:There are still a few areas that are somewhat dangerous
  • In a nutshell:A little-known Wisconsin town that offers recreation, beautiful shoreline, entertainment, history, architecture, and good food.

A lesson on how to revive a dying community. What great information about Kenosha with detail and helpful suggestions. Looks as though you could become a tour guide here.

Enjoyed reading about the underground railroad, and about all the jellybeans. What a nice amount of parks here, and those huge homes, you found lots to do here! The Sundae looked wonderful!

Me again, checking back to see your new tips and updates since September 26, 2008. Good that you live so close by, so you can go back to that new Civil War Museum when all the exhibits have opened up.

Another enjoyable page to write about a "typical" American town.
