Allan and Jim at our pool at McCormick Ranch - Sedona

Allan and Jim at our pool at McCormick Ranch

McCormick Ranch in Scottsdale: Great Place to Vacation in Scottsdale

When we visited Sedona, we came from Scottsdale, Arizona where we had attended a wedding. While in Scottsdale, we stayed in a townhouse villa in the large complex called McCormick Ranch. Once again, we found out about it by looking in the classified section of The Chicago Tribune.

We shared the townhouse with friends of ours (Leslie and Jim Nelson) who were also attending the wedding. It was a two bedroom, two bath place with a huge kitchen, living/dining room combination, washer/dryer and screened-in patio right next to the pool (and when I say "right next to", I mean it!)

It was on the main drag and so we could walk most everywhere to shop. We had rented a car, so we went out and about also.

Unique Qualities: The enclosed, screened patio was really great. We could slip out the door and practically fall into the pool, even at night.

Having the washer/dryer right in the villa really made it nice. We laughed so hard when we first arrived and saw our master bedroom with a four-poster log bed with spurs and a lasso!!

The photo is of Allan and our friend Jim in the pool outside our screen-in patio at McCormick Ranch Complex in Scottsdale

Directions: I don't have the exact address, but everyone in Scottsdale knows where this huge complex is located.

Mary's Room at Alma de Sedona Inn - Sedona

Mary's Room at Alma de Sedona Inn

Alma de Sedona Inn: Poolside Sunset Views... Alma De Sedona Inn Review

Alma de Sedona Inn is a wonderful place to stay while visiting Sedona. This is such a romantic Inn with all the natural beauty surrounding it (which can be seen from the rooms), the beautiful interior designs of each special room with fabulous names, the privacy, the fireplaces, delicious breakfasts, & the pampering.

Each room (12 of them) offers a king-sized bed, gas fireplace, telephone & answering machine, cable TV, CD player, Hair-dryer, coffee-maker, private entrance & private patio, plush robes, non-smoking environment, candles & bath salts, & eleven of the twelve rooms have two-person Jacuzzi tubs! (Whew!)

I also loved how spacious the rooms were; most of all, I loved the views of the Sedona red rock formations.

Some of the names of the rooms that I remember were: Athena, World Traveler, Journey's End, Casa Blanca, American Generation, Romantic Reflections, and Del Sol. They range in price from 180 to over 300 dollars. We stayed in Mary's Room with an iron bed; color scheme of blue, beige and gold; a loveseat, fireplace, & super views.

Unique Qualities: They offer late afternoon appetizers, and it's a good time to join other guests and share ideas. The Pool is wonderful and is a super spot to watch the incredible sunsets.

They do not serve any alcohol (state law), but you are allowed to bring your own.

The breakfast is really something with fresh juices, hot-brewed coffee or tea, granola, yogurt and a special main course that changes each day. Recipes are shared if you wish.
