Restaurant Name: Anthony's Pier 4
Anthony's Pier 4 is a Boston staple. Established by Anthony Alhanas in 1963, it's been a popular place for locals and tourists alike ever since. Its location is spectacular...it sits on the end of Pier 4 and looks across the bay to Logan airport. You are able to watch the ferry departing to Cape Cod as well as a variety of other pleasure crafts.
The large bar looks like a sailing ship, and you must stop to look at famous photos in the main lobby. From the looks of the photos, everyone who is anyone has been here!
It was once the "haunt" of the famous Kennedy Clan. Also of interest is the entry where you cross over a live lobster pond! Try to go early if you are eating dinner because it's a wait if you don't.
The place is large and open with tables adorned with crisp, white linens. It's an extensive menu with fresh lobster [which you are able to choose for yourself] as a house speciality since the lobsters are caught by their own lobstering company. [For 25 years, they have operated a lobster business out of Spruce Head Maine. Fresh live lobsters are delivered to the restaurant several times weekly to ensure the best quality and freshness.]
Some critics have said that "it's seen its better day"...I certainly disagree as do many others who have and always do eat here.
Favorite Dish: I remember vividly Allan with his lobster bib eating a whole lobster. They have the whole "bib ritual" here, which I find enchanting. He certainly needed a bib for this feast!
All meals are served with delicious fresh, hot popovers.
I had Lobster Tail that melted in my mouth.
Jill had the Pier 4 Fisherman's Platter with golden fried native sole, cod, monk fish, shrimp, and scallops. Of course, it was much too much for her, so we helped her out!
They also have delectable Souffle, either Grand Mariner served with Zabagilione Sauce or Chocolate served with Zabaglione sauce! In addition, they offter Hot baked Indian Pudding with Ice Cream, Creme Caramel, Ice Cream Pie, Baked Alaska with Strawberry Sauce, Pecan Pie with Ice Cream, Chocolate Espresso Cake served with Raspberry Sauce, and Creme Brulee!
Believe it or not, we had desserts: Hot baked Indian Pudding, Ice Cream Pie, and Creme Brulee. Don't ask which one was the best...all were outstanding.

Restaurant Name: Clem & Ursie's
Our lives are not in the lap of the gods, but in the lap of our cooks." Lin Vutang, 1937We ate at many places in Provincetown, but the one I remember with a smile is Clem & Ursie's! It's almost surrealistic with so many different kinds of food, and all of them delicious.
They serve the best pulled pork barbeque sandwich [I tought I was in the Carolinas!], Azorean Portuguese fisherman's repertoire such as the unforgettable catfish vinho dahlos [thought I had died and gone to Heaven] , and fresh lobster, either steamed, baked, or stuffed [you pick your own lobster from the tank in the adjoining market].
The prices are quite reasonable [a one pound lobster at that time was $10.95!]. I suggest you try a "lazy lobster roll" for lunch [can you imagine lobster in a hot-dog roll?
This place is known as the "best counter-service restaurant in the world!"
You gotta realize that this place is unique with its neoprimitive humor of their signage; decorative masks by the great Truro artist, Susan B. Baker, and, best of all, the former Dairyland collection of distorted genetic-misfit lobster claws!
The adjoining market is just as remarkable with the live-lobster tanks, gourmet bread, all kinds of sandwiches. They also have wines and cold beer as well as Portuguese soda.
Oh, yes, they serve soft-serve ice cream and a Nutty Fudge Bar, which is a layer of vanilla custard, peanuts, fudge, all covered in chocolate on a stick.
Or, you might choose Stuffed Ice Cream Sandwiches, which are vanilla with a fudge center or chocolate and peanut butter center rolled in nuts and dipped in chocolate!
Favorite Dish: The Chunky Lobster Bisque is delicious; Pulled BBQ Pork is perfect; Jumbo Shrimp are huge, firm, and tender; smoked ribs are terrific; Shrimp Mozambique [with broccoli over brown rice] is quite tempting; Fried Catfish Vinho Dahlos [local catfish marinated in vinegar, garlic, spices, saffron with French fries]: There are no words to describe how good this one is!; Crab Cakes with Boston Baked Beans and Homemade Slaw was a lunchtime favorite of Allan's; and Sweet Potato Fries [might be the only potato dish I've ever like!]
Open daily from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
If in Province town, you just have to try Clem and Ursies Restaurant NO CREDIT CARDS.
