Dean & DeLuca Gourmet Food Store

All Kinds of Hassle-Free Shopping: Abundant Choices in Washington DC For...

"One can buy anything with MONEY except MORALITY." Jean-Jacques Rousseau

f you enjoy shopping, then you will love Washing DC and the surrounding area.
Here are some of the fun places to shop:

1.For outstanding pottery, try Appalachian Spring Shop. It's like an informal museum with quilts, carved wood, fabrics, and, of course, pottery.
1415 Wisconsin Ave. NW

2. If you want art by local area artists, try Addison/Ripley Galleries which are located in both Dupont Circle & Georgetown.

3.If you like to bargain for what you purchase, try the Georgetown Flea Market. It's open on Sunday only. There are the usual flea market items, but its reputation for selling high-quality furniture, antiques, and decorative items is good.
Wisconsin Ave. & S St. NW

4. If you have a teenager who is looking for extreme fashions, try Commander Salamander This is definitely for the young with extreme tastes...boot, shoes, packpacks as well as clothes.
1420 Wisconsin Ave. NW

5. For a gourmet food store, try Dean & DeLuca which is about as luxurious as any grocery store I've ever seen. Super salad bar and fabulous ready-made meals.
3276 M St. NW

6. For a large mall with lots of choices, try The Shops at Georgetown Park. It's right on the canal and has clothing, shoes, electrical goods, luggage, games, home fashion products as well as a food court and several restaurants.
3222 M St. NW

7. For really unique gifts, try one of the many Museum Shops You can buy artwork reproductions, books, textiles, ceramics, tapestry purses, and souvenirs. Some of the best are National Gallery of Art, Museum of African Art, National Building Museum, & The Renwick Gallery

8. For DC memorabilia and souvenirs, try either Political Americana or Made in America which are both in Union Station

What to buy: If you are like I am and love to read, you will be thrilled with all the bookstores in the area. Besides the usual big-name bookstores, there are book sections in all the museums as well as independently-owned bookstores.

There's a museum and book shop in the basement of Washington National Cathedral.

Also, there's the Herb Cottage, which is in a renovated octagonal baptistry on the Cathedral grounds.

The gift shop at the Kennedy Center has books about the performing arts and Washington in general.

"Things-to-do" books are sold at the Smithsonian Shops

If you want art books, stop by the Franz Bader Bookstore at
1911 I Street

A real "book lover's" bookstore is Chapters a few doors down from the Sheraton-Carlton Hotel on K Street.

Perhaps Politics & Prose is most typical of DC with books and interest of local authors. There are readings, book-signing parties, and receptions held here regularly.
Located on Connecticut Avenue not far from the UFO-style Intelsat building.

I don't think you'll have any trouble finding good book stores here in DC!
