Alpino Restarurant: Local Tuscan Dishes and Fabulous Wine List

One night we ate at the restaurant at Hotel Alpino. It is noted for its excellent wine list (it has a huge wine cellar); it is also famous for the local and Tuscan dishes.

The owner is really proud of his cantina because he has wines from Tuscany and all the rest of Italy. He also points out that he goes to great trouble to adapt the wine list to match whatever dishes happen to be in season.

For their meals, they use old family recipes and fresh ingredients always. Noted for their local funghi (mushrooms), home-made pasta, zuppa Toscana (Tuscan soup), and unusual fish dishes.

The lovely dining room looks out over one of the town streets; there are white linen table clothes and napkins; a small wine bar.

Our meal lasted for two and a half hours and was excellent.

Favorite Dish: We ate one of their unusual fresh fish offerings, Spaghetti with fresh Pomodoro (tomato),
an amaretta dessert and a fabulous Monte Carlo white wine.
