To All VT Mothers and Grandmothers Although my daughter Jill and I celebrated Mother's Day on Sunday, May 4, it was a truly magical time...we ate a delicious breakfast here in Libertyville before going out to find flowers for my gardens....Jill purchased absolutely gorgeous hanging baskets, lovely small flowers [for me to make pot arrangements], and potting soil. She is oh so generous. Then I took her shopping for new summer clothes at her favorite thrift store. I feel so fortunate to have such a close bond with my darling daughter.
I want to wish all you mothers, grandmothers, and great grandmothers a very lovely Mother's Day this coming Sunday [here in the USA].The photo was taken by my daughter Jill. It's a moment in time for my adorable granddaughter, Sabrina Dee and her Nana...can't you feel the love?Newest page completed April 22, 2008 Chicago Restaurant Tip (1 tip) Newest page completed April 14, 2008 Chicago General Tip (1 tip)

| Allan and Dee in Ancient Gaeta Italy |
| | My Favorite Guy in My Favorite Place Allan and I love Italy, and we have such fond memories of Gaeta, Italy. This photograph was taken by Allan's sister Jayne when she visited us there.
You can see how wonderful the setting is with narrow walkways, steep stone stairs and vine-covered walls.
Those months in Gaeta were special as this photo indicates. |

| | The Rest of the Family Once you have learned to love, you will have learned to live.July 10, 2004 Jill Johnson and Eric Pai were married in the Rose Garden of Grant Park in Chicago. We now have a new son-in-law in our family!! As of 09/20/2007, their family has grown to four...Sabrina Dee [2 1/2] and Brandon Allan [4 months]. They live in Chicago in Lincoln Square. Eric works in Chicago as a computer programmer, and Jill now has her own company that does furniture design consultation. Fortunately, we are able to see them frequently. Both Eric and Allan are Sports Fans, especially for the Chicago Cubs. All four of us love to play golf, and since Allan works at a golf course, we are able to play often. |
Sally Cat Trained on a Leash Sally Cat turns thirteen years old on July 4, 2007. She is trained on a long, long leash, and she loves to go outside and lie in the sun or in the plants in the garden. Sally Cat is the only cat we've had who loves to walk on a leash.
She "stalks" the chipmunks, but she can never catch them. Of course, she is constantly "tangled up" so I spend much time untangling her. She stands still and waits until her collar is hooked before she moves to go out. Such a good cat. | | |
My Love of Gardening This has been a dry summer so watering the flowers takes about two hours each day!
The photo shows the Hibiscus that just opened about July 28, 2500. They are nestled in with Phlox, Sweet Peas, & Gladiolas. I have white, pink, and red ones.
Our flowers are flourishing, but they take an enormous amount of attention and time. I'm probably happiest with my hands in the soil...beautiful nails is not one of my successes.
I have over 100 flower pots distributed on the patio, front porch, and within the gardens. The perennial flowers grow larger every day...I've planted so that something is in bloom all season long.
No wonder GARDENING is the most popular hobby in the United States for both men and women...it defines a generation of people who wish to create rather than destroy. | | | Summer of 2005: Dee surrounded by her Flowers |

We're having a beautiful long sunny holiday weekend here in Germany, and I am using it to . . . weed the garden & clean out the basement! (Necessary, but it won't make a VT page.) |
