Fruit Distillery, Moorea
The beautiful mountains of Moorea
I was in French Polynesia for 3 weeks for my honeymoon and it was a trip of a life time.

To make a great story short, we stayed for 4 days in Moorea, 3 days in Bora Bora and then did the 10 day Tahitian Princess Cruise.

Overall, I believe 50 years of advertizing have been wrong, Moorea Not Bora Bora is the most beautiful island in French Polynesia. Bora Bora may have a beautiful lagoon, Moorea has the most spectacular mountains I've ever seen. See the picture!

Expensive

French Polynesia is an expensive location to visit. I was on my honeymoon and there are plenty of high priced resorts to stay at. Restaurants are expensive, the cheapest meal we ate was $60 USD ranging over $100 USD for most dinners. We never ate dinner at the resort as the food is much more authentic and delicious at the local restaurants.

Even food at the grocery store can get pricey as most of it is imported from France.

I think French polynesia is much more suited for the couples honeymooning or celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary, not for your average backpacker trying to travel cheaply.
