Reasons for travel I guess my main motivations for travel now are to see new sights or to visit old friends. Odd perhaps that I should want to see new things, but catch up with people I already know. I guess I am happier with the familiar. My travel experiences are shaped by interailing and then travelling for work.
I wouldn't say I was a "business" traveller. I've never managed first class! I am happier taking the bus than the taxi, and I think shopping at local shops/markets is preferable to eating in hotels.
I love train travel. Freedom to move about whilst on the move. And you can change your mind about destination, and jump off at the next stop, unlike aircraft.
Walking is too slow to keep my interest in the scenery. I like a changing vista - but with a bit of pace. Cycling fits the bill. All the accessability and quiet of human power. |
With children Suddenly travel is not just about going from A to B.
Consideration must be made of finding the playground at C, and the toilets at D, E, F.
Nappies rule. Using disposables ruins the planet (and you have to assume you are actually going to find some), or you carry your stash of terrys and hope you can do some washing. |
