Cerro Verde National park is one of the most amazing places in El Salvador, From the top of the dormant Cerro Verde Volcano you can see stunning views of Izalco, the youngest volcano in the Americas, and the smoking Santa Ana. Also the top of Cerro Verde is covered by an orchis garden than must be spectacular if you, unlike me, go durring the right season.

While ride from San Salvador should still be done in the day, the park itself is now quite safe. Considered off limits only 5 years ago, the Park Police have done a great job securing a must see tourist sight.
