New York City and me

It seems the travel bug has gotten to me so bad, that I quit my job to pursue it more. Well that, and I disliked my job anyway. I am a web entrepreneur, and have a singles website- and of course, I have a singles travel section to my site. I tend to do most my travelling solo and am always looking to meet up with like-minded travelers on my journeys. Likewise, if you should come to NYC and need some friendly advice, please feel free to drop a line. I was born and raised in Manhattan ( now living in Brooklyn) and will be happy to give you some advice. Every winter you can also find me in Miami on some weekends- (where I lived for 5 years, and still have many friends).

Well I was born & raised in Manhattan- which is a rare, because most people come to NYC from somewhere else. I was one of those city kids fortunate to grow up on the Macys Thanksgiving Day Parade, Coney Island, NY Theatre, Museums,Central Park & of course taking the NYC subway to school. Of course as a result of this city life- I cant swim, didnt learn to drive until I was 30, work 50 hours plus per week, etc. But thats New York!
I enjoy showing others around NY,playing tourist and taking in sites I sometimes take for granted.

Time Square

You must go to at least one show. If you are on a budget and Broadway ticket prices seem too steep....then go to an Off -Broadway play. Theatres are all over Manhattan, not just Times Square. Many of the off Broadway shows you will find in Greenwich Village( thats why its "Off" Broadway). Major productions are always in Times Square. There is also a 1/2 Price Ticket booth in Times Square for same day tickets- but expect long lines.

Holiday Time in NYC...the weather outside is frightful....but nothing beats it. The city is decked out, and Santa's are everywhere. When the shopping crowds become too much, just stop and have a hot chocolate by the Ice rink. Jump in and skate, and share the holiday with 1000's of new friends...not for the shy...your skating ability will be on display. A great afternoon holiday treat. Come back at night to see the tree in all its splendor. Tree lighting is usually 10 days after Thanksgiving.

Dining Options Galore- the best of the USA

A NYC Restaurant

From $10- $200 , you can get a great meal in NYC. Some of the best restaurants in the country are based in NYC- be prepared to pay. But NYC is home to so many different ethnic/immigrant groups, we have WHOLE neighborhoods
devoted to certain cuisines. For $2 try a NY slice of pizza or a bagel w cream cheese for breakfast. Ethnic areas include: Chinatown, Little Italy, Dominican and Latino in Upper Manhattan. Polish food in Williamsburg, Greek food in Astoria Queens, Russian food in Little Odessa/Brooklyn, Jamaican/Trinidad/etc, also in Brooklyn....Seafood in City Island, Jewish on the Lower East Side, and so on. Tapas, Fondue,Dim Sum,BBQ,Steaks......its all here...pick up a Zagats book or go to Zagats online to read restaurant reviews. *****Plan ahead for weekends...it may be necessary to make a Saturday reservation a week or more in advance for the newer, more popular restaurants.
