Luspenloppet

In Storuman in the beginning of April each year it's the last cross country skiing competition for the season.

This competition is called Luspenloppet and is really popular for because of the time on the year. It use to come some houdred competitors from all over Scandinavia to end the season with Luspenloppet.

The best place in Sweden for cross country skiing

In Storuman you can go cross country skiing on Swedens longest lighted ski track, running between Storuman and Stensele. All 17 km of tracks are illuminated during nighttime (16.00 until at least 21.00).

Of course you don't have to go on the 17 km long track, there are a number of cross connections which allows you to take just as long trip as you want to.

You can also find other lighted ski tracks in the following villages around Storuman:

Ankarsund, Barsele, Pauträsk, Forsmark, Grundfors, Gunnarn, Långsjöby, Slussfors, Strömsund and Åskilje.

Folkrace rally

On weekend in August there are a big Folkrace Rally in the village Forsvik 15 km outside of Storuman.

Marknadsmilen

On the last Saturday of June the street running competition Marknadsmilen is held in Storuman. Here you can compete in running 5 or 10 km on the streets of Storuman.

At this weekend it's also the yearly street fair in Storuman so it will be a lot of people out on the streets watching.

Snowmobile skiing

If you think normal skiing or snowboarding isn't exciting enough you could try snowmobile towing. (Called 'Tolka' in Swedish)

When towing after a snowmobile you will get a line to hold on to and then it's just to stand up and try to follow. It's a bit like water skiing but actually much easier. You will be surprised how easy it is to stand even in higher speeds. After a while you might even want try doing some skills.

Just remember to use quite wide skis, the wider the safer and easier. You may also use the snowboard, but that requires a bit more practise.

Some snowmobile action

If you like some more action you can try some more extreme snowmobile driving.

But I wouldn't suggest that you shall go jumping with the snowmobile if you aren't very used to it, and maybe you should own your own snowmobile before are thinking you trying.

A trip with the boat

Take a trip with the rowing boats on one of the many lakes around Storuman. I promise you will find it relaxing.

Ice Fishing

In the winter it's easy to go ice fishing on the lakes. In March and April it's often very popular ice fishing competitions where you can participate in trying to get as much fish as possible during a limited time.

Snowboarding

In the area around Storuman you will find a lot of hills, and of course, a lot of snow. So it's not problem finding a place for snowboarding.

You find ski lifts in Storuman, Tärnaby and Hemavan.
