The history of the Slavs

The legend says that there were 3 brothers: Lech, Czech and Rus. They left their father to search a place to establish their own countries.
When Lech came to the very fertile territory he saw a white eagle sitting in a nest (nest in Polish is Gniazdo). He thought that it was a sign for him and his people and he established his country there. Its first capital was called Gniezno and Polish language comes from "Lechicki" language.
2 other brothers also found good places- Czech established Czechoslovakia and Rus Russia.

Polish History

The name of Poland comes from the name of the Polanie tribe. In IX / X century there existed a few pre-state territorial organizations. Polanie, who settled near Gniezno, managed to unite most tribes dwelling in the area and established the state reigned by the Piast dynasty. The first Piast prince to be mentioned by contemporary historical sources, Mieszko I was baptized in 966, thus starting the process of Poland?s Christianization and placing the Polish state in the political system of Central Europe...
