Tourist Trap: Times Square
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]
  • OK, there is not really turist trap tip but rather must see activity, but walking through the crowd at Times Square and waiting to cross the street for three minutes is really frustrating.

Statue of Liberty: Ferry boat to Ellis Island and Liberty Island
  • Tip Rating:
  • Although visiting of Ellis Island and Liberty Island both is something one shoud not miss under no circumstances during our short stay in NY city we were discouraged with the veeerrry long line in front of ticket office as well as a lot of people waiting for a ferry. Maybe it is not like that throught the year, but we were there around Christmas when expected wait time was about 4 hours. Frustrating, freezing, and, I would say, time-consuming.

At Least Do This: Try during the peak season (if any in NY city)
Alternative: Take Manhattan boat cruise on pier 83 (Circle line boat trip) and you will be able to see both islands stretching not so far away from the your boat.

FYI, the Bronx is a borough (read: county) with over 1 million people, not a neighborhood.

Observing drug dealers in Washington Square Park is a little like seeing nuns at the vatican. They probably aren't there to start any trouble. Just ignore them. If you want a nice park Union Sq Park at 14th or Manhattan park at 23rd street.
