In former days, Bad Goisern was called "the most beautiful village in the monarchy [Austria-Hungary]". Today the village with approx. 7.000 inhabitants belongs to the World and Nature Heritage "Hallstatt -Dachstein".
The wide and open valley stretches from Hallstaetter See lake, in the South, to Bad Ischl, the Emperor's holiday resort in the North.
In the valley there are 31 small villages, partly on the slopes. Bad Goisern is also a spa, due to the iodine sulphur medicinal spring.

You still can drink water from creeks and natural fountains in this valley. In this lovely landscape, you sufficiently find room for walking in the valley, nearby the lake or creek, for hiking on the gentle slopes or for mountaineering at the impressive peaks of the surrounding.
