Getting TO/AROUND: There are at least three flights between Caracas and Bogota and they are mostly operated by Avianca, the colombian airlines. Flights are a little less frequent to Quito, the Ecuadorian capital.

Getting TO/AROUND: It angers me a little every time I paid departure tax at the airport which are mostly payable in cash in different countries of South America. And you find out that the tax was not included in the price.

The airline stuff asked me to get a tax rebate that perhaps depend on what document you hold and where you are going to.

I got a receipt here in the airport and then went on to get boarding card. And paid the reduced fee before entering deaprture lounge.

Getting TO/AROUND: Yeps, after Havana and Caracas, Bogotá seems to be a better (cheaper) destination. From the airport and on the way to old town by taxi, it seemed like I am somewhere in Europe. A good public service and security system visible. But yes the part of Bogotá where poor people live is in another part where I did not have to go. Perhaps that’s the reason I found my impression all positive.

Yello-taxi just coming out of the departure lounge I found this system. Paying and getting the receipt of my hotel address in Old town of Bogota. The chauffeur did not speak English but had a big ID laminated in front which says his is a licensed and regular cab. Another advantage was this system is built on distance instead of meter. So no worries paying more. Since I have already paid in advance I did not bother to pay any tips. The ride was about 30 min. and I paid a little more than 7 USD. Here price is quoted in both Colombian pesos and USD!

Getting TO/AROUND: The following day I had to get another taxi to my friend that was based on meter and I ended up paying 8 USD for 15 min. ride.

Now, I had to get the same meter taxi to airport and had to pay 10 USD, hm Should I have waved one instead of getting a meter taxi. But Early in the morning I was not prepared for any unwanted adventure. And always thought its secure if you get one through your hotel.

Getting TO/AROUND: This is a new bus system introduce in Bogota in recent years. In some routes you see this big and comfortable buses where you have to queue and wait. Otherwise Rich and middle-class Bogotans move around with their own cars.

Getting TO/AROUND: You don get Transmilenio for all routes. So , what happens when peole don feel like to get a ride with those old ugly buses. These are an alternative. Most of them do have a destination mark in front, so you know which ways they are goin. But, perhaps you don have to use them as a tourist.

Getting TO/AROUND: Hmm, I found the toll system on highway is quite frequent in many countries of South America. Here we are paying toll on the way (and also back) to/ from Zipaquira.

Getting TO/AROUND: Near Zipaquira salt cathdral we found this amusing tourist cus. This model is not even that common in my native Bangladesh but even in Bogota city yo see then often. Perhaps it makes a little sense in this high segregated society by wealth.

I´ll leave the addres. This is a food chain, but the biggest is located in "La zona Rosa" in the 83 street near to the Andino Mall. The name is "El Carnal" and the food is great and cheap.
