Prague is one of the most popular touristic destinations in Europe. It's a city with an extraordinairy amount of historical buildings, with culture and with the dividing Vtlava river between the two sides. But most of all, Prague is a city with a intimate centre, like I've never seen it anywhere else in Europe. Beautiful squares surrounded by nothing but gorgeous buildings. Narrow streets with old cobble stones throwing you back into Medieval Times. Colours that are so much warmer then the "cold" image westerners often have the former Eastern Europe Rebublics.

Cultural Prague Prague is a cultural heart of Europe. Its history, architecture, with its caracteristic towers, and its different areas, make that the city sometimes even exceeds cities like Paris, London or Berlin looking at numbers of visitors. Unless the enormous amount of interested people, the city is still nice to visit, with some absolute must-see: - Staromestske Namesti: The perfect central square. I can't think of a square that is more beautiful then this one. The beautiful Tyn-church and the Old Townhall are the major buildings, but every single other building fits exactly in the unity. - Charles Bridge: This bridge is so much more then just a connection between one bank and another. The Charles Bridge is a sign of the proud history of Czech Republic: attacked by fast-running water, but at the end standing strong and having a breathtaking beauty. - Prague Castle: On top of a hill, this collection of wealthy palaces, picturesque streets and impressive churches, has been the centre of the nation for centuries and centuries. Today, normal people like us are blessed being able to take a look inside.

Pleasant Prague Besides it cultural side, Prague also can be a very relaxed, pleasant place. It has a great streetlife with artists and music and it's full of small restaurants, bars, cafe's and fortunately you don't see much American brands here. And Prague really has some beautiful quite parts where it's great to walk around without being crushed by other tourists. - Music: One of the nice things about Prague's streetlife definitely is it's Dixieland. At a lot of places you'll see jazzbands perform, showing their swinging music. And if that is not enough, you can always decide to visit a Jazzclub at night. - Nightlife: The best place to hang out at night, and to find your bars and restaurants is Stare Mesto. Here you can enjoy the wonderful Old Citysquare at night while having a drink or have a nice dinner in a narrow, Medieval alley. - Walking around: Although it's a crowded city, there are always some nice, quite places where you can have a walk and enjoy the environment. The area of Josefov with its tall buildings and quite streets, around the Petrin Hill with its forest and along the Vltava: always a great view at one of both sides. |

ksszzz Tue Aug 25, 2009 16:02 UTC do you know the name of the shop...or the street add. or if you can suggest any other shisha place | BruceDunning Sat Aug 22, 2009 00:00 UTC I am sure you found this to be a very historical city and still preserved some of its cultures form the past. Your research to explain sites was great. Tourists make up commerce today, but that is the way it has to be, I guess. | johngayton Thu Dec 6, 2007 15:14 UTC This is a great page too, just lacking some of your excellent restaurant observations tho' ;) Totally with you on the 6 senses of travel! Cheers, John. | gilabrand Thu Feb 8, 2007 20:17 UTC OOH, I like the sound of that chocolate soup drink! |
