Sports Travel: Hiking in the Alps
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]
  • Theme: Hiking

Liechtenstein is a very fanatic sports-country. The government strongly supports sports and the country has an enormous amount of sporters and sport-clubs per capita.

One of the most popular sports in the country is hiking. Hiking in the Alps is a fantastic way to get your physical training and to get a great view of the environment.

Liechtenstein has over 400 kilometers of hiking paths all over the mountains. Most of them are well prepared and they are all clearly marked on several maps at the roadsides and on the tourist-map for hikers that is available at the tourist office.

There are several huts so spend the night in in the Liechtensteiner Alps, although these are only opened in the summertime. And of course it is very easy to cross the borders to Austria and Switzerland. From many places the borders are only a few kilometers away. If you want to start your hike immediately with the high Alps, you can easily take a bus into the mountains and get out there to start your walk.

Haha! Your snowman looks more like an 'ice-man' - but he's very cool! Love the photo of the purple flowers on the hillside and the view into the valley - great shot!

Fabulous Lichtenstein page with brilliant photos and interesting info. Brings back many memories of my daytrip to this small country, even though I only visited Vaduz and Schaan. Triesenberg seems to be well worth a visit as well. :-)
