"Mampong, homebase of Tetteh Quarshie" Mampong by Pieter11

Mampong Travel Guide: 2 reviews and 6 photos

Mampong, located between Koforidua and Aburi in Ghana's Eastern Region, is a very small town that actually is nothing different from other very small town in the surroundings. But in the year 1870, there was one person that changed this forever: Tetteh Quarshie.

In that year he planted the very first cocoa-trees in his village: the beginning of Ghana's most important business today. In Mampong you can still visit his cocoa farm and even see the two original cocoa-trees.
