Paris, my favorite city ever! - 12 visits so far

by Pieter11 - last update: Mar 15, 2009

The heart of France

Lovebirds in the most romantic city on earth...
The city of Paris really is my favorite city. No where in Europe you can find such a variety of monuments, beautiful buildings and such a pleasant atmosphere. L´Arc de Triomphe, Le Tour Eiffel, La Sacre Coeur, La Notre Dâme, Le Louvre, Versailles... There is no ending of the list of things you have to see. However, seeing is not the right word to describe Paris. You have to experience the city. Paris!!!

My tips are all organised according to the arrondissements of Paris, starting in the first arrondissement. Want to know more about these arrondissements? Check out my general tips about Arrondissements.

Notre Dame

Paris: Modern and old

Paris has a lot of impressive modern buildings, presented in the way you only see in Paris: with great pride and feeling of space. Some places where you find these modern buildings:

- La Défense
- Centre Pompidou
- Institut du Monde Arabe
- Stade de France

And of course Paris has some of the greatest old building in the world, scattered all over the city:

- Notre Dame
- Sacre Coeur
- Palace of Versailles
- Hotel des Invalides

Place des Pyramides

Paris: Day and night

Paris is beautiful 24 hours a day, and it´s alive 24 hours a day. Some of my favorite places to hang out at daytime:

- Jardin de Luxembourg
- La Défense
- Canal Saint Martin
- Centre Pompidou

And at night you really should see some of the following spots:

- The Seine near the Ile de la Cité
- Place des Vosges
- Place des Pyramides
- Champs Elysées

Pros:"Paris has everything a great city should have: everything!"
Cons:"Unfortunately a lot of people think like this, so it can be crowded sometimes."
In A Nutshell:" Warning: THIS CITY IS ADDICTIVE *"

The plan of getting off at the next stop was what we used on our French exchange trip. Luckily we never used it!
