All who wander are not lost

by evilprebil - last update: Apr 30, 2008

You can still grill in the rain!
I leave for Italy in a week & half!!!!! I feel very unprepared, like it kind of snuck up on me! I'm going with work and getting to see Venice, Florence & Rome. Not bad, eh? I think the thing I'm most worried about is not knowing the language. I'd better get researching....
Salzburg

Christkindlmarkt 2007

The Christmas Markets were great as well. I'm not a huge shopper, but as my friends and I discovered the one night, it was just as fun to stand around, drink Gluhwein and talk as it would be to shop. I'll definitely go back during December again, it was a really great experience.
Go Eagles!

some more.....

We love to drink wine and try different beer. We like to go to and watch sporting events, especially football (American football that is, though I loved watching Football in Portugal!). I like visiting aquariums, zoos, art museums and science museums. Basically there isn't anything I don't like to experience. I generally find most things interesting and if not I can find something else. I think that's why travel is so appealing, its always something new and interesting.
Lisboa at night
I love to eat and try new food. Anything is fair game (Tafelspitz terrine on the last trip...eh, not so much!). I think one of the best parts of visiting a foreign country is the food. Even visiting a different region can yield a vastly different cuisine. I love living so close to the city because I'm able to eat so much authentic ethnic foods.
I also love cooking and gardening, which for me go hand in hand. I think to truly be a great cook you need to start with the freshest ingredients so I try to grow as much of my own food as I can. What could be fresher than that? I hope to grow some grape vines at the next house and learn more about wine-making.
2 Aussies and a Yank

books...

I haven't been reading anything really great recently. Passage to India by E.M. Forster was interesting, not sure what I thought of it yet. I did get a nice Austrian Cookbook in Vienna which I made some homemade spaetzle from recently. : )

Thanks for the Birthday wish. I left my Royal Court in Italy, but they wish me well, too. Safe travels, Count Lorenzo de Messina.
