"Rio Dulce to Livingston" Río Dulce by xpythias

Don't have a ton to say about this place as i didn't spend much time there. came in from poptun with the express interest in seeing the Golfete, which i did. caught a bus out at 1am to Guatemala city that night.

A little sad at my choice. from flores, i had the choice of going to Coban, or going the rio dulce route. people had told me the trip from rio dulce to livingston is better than the grand canyon, so i went there. well, it weren't no grand canyon. it was pretty, but no grand canyon.

the rest of the time i spent waiting for my bus, at Bruno's bar, hanging with ex pats as well as two 18 year old kids with shotguns, hired to protect the bar.

livingston main drag

there are a number of people that told me that Livingston is just the bee's knees. i don't get it.. it has one main drag and very few people. If you want to grab a beer on a bar over the water, you're in luck. if you're trying to find something else to do, including eat, it's a little more difficult. i was only there for a few hours, but i have to admit it, i was bored. i don't know what i missed.

river trip

the boat ride was fun. it was expensive, and not as impressive as "the grand canyon", but i still enjoyed it. i have heard that you can spend quite a bit of time in this area, and see the "real jungle". i didn't do this, but from the boat, you can see some pretty sights.

• In a nutshell:nice trip, but in hindsight, wish i had gone the coban route instead.
