I spent the first weekend of December 2003 in Key West, just in time for a yearly Pirate celebration and the local Christmas parade. Key West is a cool place to visit. If you've been to beach towns along the south (ex. Myrtle Beach) some things will be very familiar.
Every path you take will eventually lead you back to Duval Street, the main drag of old Key West. This street is lined with many fun bars, pricey restaurants, and souveneir shops that would fit right into every other american beach town if they were titled "Wings" or "Eagles".
All in all Key West is a good getaway. In the winter you'll miss out on many of the summer activities such as the beach, parasailing, etc. (though the coldest it got for us was in the 60's). In the winter months id say make Key West a weekend trip as you may run out of things to do, as we did staying 4 days. Im sure the summer doesnt have that problem |
