Visiting the countryside where Beethoven took his vacations was just amazing. I strolled through the quiet streets of this wonderful town and imagined Beethoven and his music. I especially enjoyed visiting the very home where Beethoven wrote his famous Heiligenstadt Testimony. It was a touching moment.

Where Beethoven Composed his Sixth Symphony

I took a walk at the wooded area in where Beethoven actually worked on his Sixth Symphony..my all time favorite. I was in utter ecstasy. I listened to this symphony ever since I was a child. I could never have imagined that I would someday be at the place where it was composed. I was in tears.

This is the very brook that inspired the second movement of Beethoven's Sixth Symphony. Also, since there was a slight rain, I heard a thunder. I also heard a quail. These are sounds Beethoven represented in the symphony. The only sounds I did not hear were the sounds of cuckoo birds and the dancing and singing of country folks. Oh well, you can't have it all. Neverthless, I was hearing in my inner soul the whole symphony as I walked for hours in this wooded area of Heiligenstadt.
