Estate of Mercendarbe (Merzendorf)

Estate of Mercendarbe (the german name - Merzendorf) is near Baldone city, in Riga district.

Some historical data:
The first time the estate of Mercendarbe is mentioned in 1686 when the Duke of Courland Friedrich Kazimir has leased a patrimonial estate of Merzendorf, which was bought from the Royal Captain Johann Karl Pfeiliter von Frank.

According to inventory of an estate from 1739 - the apartment house has been constructed from rough-hewn wooden beams and had a straw roof. Behind an apartment house have been constructed the brewery, the coach - house, the graary, the stable, the feedlot, wall sheds and other household buildings. Nera to the apartment house were the garden, many fruit trees, hop and vedetable garden.

On August 11, 1786 Friedrich George von Liven (1748. - 1800.) has bought estate of Merzendorf (for 31 000 thailers) from Peter - the Duke of Courland.

On the first half of 20th century the owner of Karlos von Liven (1879. - 1971.) has reconstructed the apartment house and has built the first floor.

The estate belonged to the family of Liven till 1920.

Since 1940. there is children's home.

At present the owner of the estate building is Riga District Council.
