Karnak Temple: Temple of Karnak - 1
  • Tip Rating:
  • The Temple of Karnak is a city of temples built to the Theben triad of Amon, Mut and Khonsu.
You can call the Temple of Karnak - the Mother of all religious buildings. It's a largest ever made palce in the world and it covers about 1.5km by 0.7km.
For example, the great temple at the heart of Karnak is so big, that St Peter's, Milan and Notre Dame Cathedrals could be lost within its walls.

  • Pictures on the walls of the Temple of Karnak shows us the fine examples of temple rituals and the relationship of the pharaohs with their gods.
Each wall is like a picture book - very beautiful and interesting book.
I have a dream.... some day read this book...

  • The Hypostyle Hall (102 x 53m) with its 134 columns is still the largest room of any religious building in the world!!!!!
In the centre are 12 columns, these are the largest columns (21m tall) and these columns have open papyrus capitals. Those columns were built by Amenhotep III. The other 122 columns were built by other pharaohs. Those columns are smaller (15m) and have closed capitals.
