| | Travel Words of Wisdom I love to travel, but hate to arrive. -- Albert Einstein
Travellers never think that THEY are the foreigners. -- Mason Cooley
Man always travels along precipices... His truest obligation is to keep his balance. -- Pope John Paul II
Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry, but by demonstrating that all peoples cry, laugh, eat, worry, and die, it can introduce the idea that if we try and understand each other, we may even become friends. -- Maya Angelou
Your true traveller finds boredom rather agreeable than painful. It is the symbol of his liberty-- his excessive freedom. He accepts his boredom, when it comes, not merely philosophically, but almost with pleasure. -- Aldous Huxley
Not all those who wander are lost. -- J. R. R. Tolkien |
Heroes Where does it come from, this quest? This need to solve life's mysteries when the simplest of questions can never be answered? Why are we here? What is the soul? Why do we dream? Perhaps we'd be better off not looking at all. Not delving, not yearning. But that's not human nature. Not the human heart. That is not why we are here. Yet still we struggle to make a difference, to change the world, to dream of hope, never knowing for certain who we will meet along the way. Who among the world of strangers will hold our hand, touch our hearts, and share the pain and triumph? | | |
| | Heroes - Four Months Later The sun rises on a new dawn. Yet few of us realize the debt we owe to those responsible for this. To those who dwell among us, anonymous, seemingly ordinary. Whom destiny brought together to repair, to heal, to save us from ourselves. And they're still out there among us. In the shadows. In the light. We pass them on the street without a glance. Never suspecting, never knowing. Do they even know yet? That they are bound together by a common purpose? A glaring reality to be extraordinary. And when destiny does unite them, how do they hide from it? How long can they dwell in the shadows before either fate, or their own flawed humanity draws them out in to the light again? And how will they know what awaits them when it finally does? |
What is Jokerit? For those who recognize the name, you'll find it strange for someone living where I do to pay attention to this team. For those that do not know Jokerit, it is a Finnish League (SM-Liiga) hockey team. I'm not Finnish in any way, shape, or form, but I am a big hockey fan who pays attention to the Euro leagues. Also helps that Jokerit has a cool team logo :) | | | Hockey player from Jokerit of Helsinki, Finland |

| | Happy Chinese New Year!! This picture seemed to draw the most interest among visitors to my page, so I thought i'd preserve it a little longer.
This is the traditional hot-pot that a lot of Asians partake in during the colder months or during the holidays. The hot-pot consists of a boiling pot of broth. Surrounding this pot are plates of raw meat, vegetables, and seafood. Each person at the table has a small wire basket spoon in which the raw items are placed in and then cooked (or rather boiled) in the hot-pot till it is done. Each person has a bowl of a spicy peanut soy sauce mixture to dip and flavor the cooked items before eating. |
