Too often ... would men boast only of the miles covered that day, rarely of what they had seen.

Moshi - The hustle and bustle at the base of Kili

by jackfruit - last update: Feb 29, 2004

Kilimanjaro from outside Moshi town
Situated on the southeastern slopes of Kilimanjaro, the small town of Moshi is full of hiker hotels that cater to tourism in Kilimanjaro National Park and Arusha National Park. Trekking the slopes of Kili and Meru are the top attractions in the area.

About an hour west of the larger town of Arusha, Moshi makes a more accessible and less crowded base for Kili treks.

If you are trekking only Mt. Meru, Arusha makes a better base for your adventure. Arusha is about 1 hr west of Moshi and about 30 mins from the JRO airport.

Cons:"Not much todo in town"
In A Nutshell:"Just another town"
