Serengeti National Park What to Pack: 5 reviews and 3 photos

Chilly mornings and evenings

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Because of the excellent camouflage that the serengeti grasses offer it's denizens, you will need to scout for them using your binoculars and usually, standing in your 4x4 vehicle as you drive down the serengeti dirt roads. This makes for dusty and chilly winds sometimes.

Evenings and early mornings are the best times for a game drive. That is when the big cats are out on the prowl and can be easily spotted. It's also when the weather can get chilly.

Make sure to pack a sweater and scarf to keep yourself warm.

Dust - here, there and everywhere in between!

Miscellaneous: Dust is everywhere in the Serengeti. Because of the vast openess and aridity of the plains, you will notice dust film deposits on everything. Protect your camera by covering it in a ziploc bag and keep a lens cleaner close at hand.

Also pack a no wash hand sanitizer like Purell to clean your hands of the dust before snacking.
