The Festival State | Is it any wonder why I am drawn to this monument ? |
Adelaide is a feast in every way. Its a facinating blend of the old and new, relaxed, muted and entirely original.
Side walk cafe culture is part of its charm - in fact its said there are more restaurants per head of population here than anywhere else in Australia. From what I hear as well -- Adelaide is also where much of the Aussie cuisine delighting the world is being created. ..
On the other hand, lets be honest - Adelaide is NOT a large city. Its more like a somewhat big town. But just because it does not have the hustle and the bustle of the city does not mean that it is a complete non-entity. PLEASE. Many a small city hides hidden treasures..it just takes some "digging" after all. From the Germanisque village of Handorf to the Barossa valley - all good comes to thise who wait :-) |
| | Adelaide offers a relaxed yet sophisticated City environment for residents and visitors alike - the perfect gateway to South Australia's many and varied attractions.
Adelaide is also the wine capital of Australia - six out of the top 10 Australian wines are made within a few hours drive of the City - the most popular naturally being Barossa which is a mere 40 mins drive away ! |

| | South Australia (SA) SA as named is at southern half of Australia - between the states of WA and VIC. Adelaide is the capital city and is very well recognised for its quaint use of space and city layout - not to mention retainment of elegant architecture. The Adelaide hills are beautiful with many trees planted from around the world, including England. SA was settled by FREE immigrants - migrants not convicts -with its immigrants settling in the Hills, Barossa etc largely from Germany or Italy. The same German immigrants then started the wine industry in SA. |

| Pros: | "Friendly folks, gorgeous *albeit cold* weather during autumn and winter." | | Cons: | "Rather quiet in comparison to the other Australian cities." |
