Welcome to my London page London has been my home since 1990. Joel and I met in 2002, and in summer of 2004, we moved from my apartment in the City to an apartment Soho to be closer to all the great and cheap restaurants (I was finding less and less time to cook). We love living in Soho but we soon out grew the little duplex that we had and decided to buy something bigger.
Our search took us all over Soho, Covent Garden, and Marylebone but to find anything over 1000 sq ft, with a long lease (100 years or more) and costing less than a million pound was extremely difficult. So we finally found something about 5 minutes walk from my old apartment in the City. It took about 3 months to complete on the deal but we are glad we did it. Its great to have a dish washer again… our own private terrace, air conditioned rooms and yes… Hoxton is very quiet here compared to Soho and only £10 cab ride to Soho. I still drive to work (Canary Wharf), and the journey now takes 20 minutes.
Also, we have now caught the cruise bug! We went on our first cruise after we signed the Civil Partnership – that was in August 2006 and went round the Med. Then our second cruise – which is in the Caribbean, in March 2007 and even booked on the next one, but this is not until Jan 2008.
The expense of buying a new place means that we have to cut our travels this year, but we hope to get away in August to Ibiza. |
