A cidade que ja se chamou Vila Rica e foi capital do imperio, era a principal rota de escoamento, do Ouro Mineiro, para os portos de Parati e do Rio de Janeiro.
Tem todo um charme especial, em suas ladeiras, e que em suas igrejas que guardam algumas das onbras do mestre Aleijadinho

The city, once called Vila Rica ( The Rich Village), was the main route, of the gold that were sent to the harbors of Parati and Rio de Janeiro, to be dispatched to Europe
The city has a unique charm, due to it´s hills and it´s barroque churches that keeps some of the works of the great master Aleijadinho, wich use to work with tools tied to his wrists, because his fingers, had fall down due to a disease called Lepra.
