Tutukaka Travel Guide: 19 reviews and 33 photos
Tutukaka is on the eastern coast, just north of Whangarei. It offers a beautiful coastline and a sheltered harbour that is home to numerous dive charter boats. Take a trip out to the world famous Poor Knights Islands or dive New Zealand's two famous ship wrecks. The Waikato and Tui are superb dive wrecks and are not far from the harbour entrance.

I wonder what the name means. I know what tutu is and I know what kaka is - but they don't seem to go together.
Just like Pepples, Tutukaka seems to be unknown to many...quite unknown and amid a plethora of colorful, somewhat bizarre toponymia...a very interesting page, indeed.
looks like I have to do some travelling.....never heard of Tutukaka. lovely place
