Sailors paradise

Aucklanders are lucky in that we have the Hauraki Gulf at our door step. We have access to some of the finest cruising grounds and all only a matter of a few hours sail away. The gulf covers an area of more than 18,000 square kilometres, and is sheltered by a number of outlying islands.

A great home is Gulf Harbour Marina - reputed to be one of the largest in Australasia and certainly well serviced. It has berths for around 970 yachts/ launches as well as a further 25 SuperYacht berths.

From here you can explore islands, picnic on surf swept ocean beaches, enjoy bush walks, see rare New Zealand birds on offshore islands, or visit historic homesteads or buildings such as on Kawau Island.

Satellite Suburb

Once a sleepy holiday area, the Whangaparoa Peninsula is now a commuter suburb of Auckland - around 45 mins drive to the city in off peak hours. There are a large number of family friendly beaches and always somewhere to shelter from the wind.
