Simply Beautiful

View from Kampa Island
First of all I will freely admit that I am a Prague bore! We have been there three times and I just love the city. On many ocassions have I lectured friends and family, until their eyes glaze over, about why, when and where they should go to Prague!
It is a beautful, beautiful city full of culture and history.
Walking through the Old Town Square over Charles Bridge into Mala Strana and up to the Castle is a feast of wonderful architecture and beautiful views.
It's also a great city to visit in the winter. Petrin Hill in the snow is quite magical. And the crowds are far less than in the Summer months
It's also a remarkably cheap place in terms of food, entrance fees and accomodation. Yes, as in most major cities, bars in the tourist areas such as the Old Town Square will charge you 1.50 to 2.00 sterling for a beer or a coffee but just walk round to the side streets and you can enjoy a beer of the equivilent of
0.50 sterling or less.
If you enjoy culture, history and architecture - plus Dumplings, Becherovka and Dark Beer - Prague is the place to go

City of a Hundred Spires

I've heard Prague called the "City of a Hundred Spires" and it's not hard to see why.
The Prague skyline is punctuated by spires of various kinds, hovering over the buildings like lances being held to attention.
On churches, on buildings and even a TV Tower they draw the eye.
One of the best ways to see them, and also to view Prague itself, is to get to their level. Take a trip up the steeple of St. Vitus Cathedral, or the Observation Tower in Petrin Park, or the Old Town Hall Tower or one of the Charles Bridge Towers. The views across the city are magnificent.
Indeed with so much to see on both ground level and spire level Prague could as easily be termed the "City of a Hundred Vistas".
