Flying into Beijing with next to zero klnowledge of Mandarin can be adventurous, which it is. But if you are not booked already or are relying on the airport information desk for booking hotel in the city better watch out. One of the cheapest hotels I found at the airport was this JingShan hotel in central Beijing.
It was a real pain finding it and it turned out to be pretty bad in terms of hygiene, room size and there was just about zero facilities and they DONT accept credit cards.
However, even though I had booked at the airport, i didn't have much problem in getting the room after arrival.
Am not loading the pictures as it is not worth it. However, incase you have booked it seeing it on the net or some brochure just avoid it.
Unique Qualities: It had only 2 good points in its favour. It was close to a student's web centre which was open till late in the night(where I checked which other hotel can I go to the next day..thank god!!..) and is pretty cheap.. just about 25 cents/10 rupees which is what is the cost of surfing in India.
Secondly, since it was in a hutong.. the small mom and pop stores were not overpriced.
I bought some banana and potatoe wafers for dinner(this was however a lil costlier than India.. specially the banana) though the lady was very warm while seling the stuff.
