The place is very close to Tiananmen Square which means not difficult to locate. Though it is very crowded most of the time.. The decor is traditional and would seem out of a 60-70s Kung Fu movie with wooden benches and large tables which can be shared between patrons. There is no backrest so sit straight. There are few foreigners in here and infact the waiteress was at pains explaining to me that it is a Chinese restaurant -- probably never having seen an Indian before. The menu is only in Chinese so you need to know that Peking duck is called Peking Kao Ya in Chinese and thats what you need to say to the waiteress. She might show you other items on the menu but I ignored them to be safe. I kept wondering where exactly did Castro, George Bush, Yanni and Helmut Kohl(amongst others) would have sat when they visited the place..

Favorite Dish: Peking duck served here is delectable to say the least.
What they serve you is shredded(actually small pieces of roasted duck-- which mind you is breeded specially for the restuarant). This will be served with 5-6 pieces of flattened rice cake..in India it would be called roti made of rice.
They also served something in a glass with a white colour which again I ignored..
Along with the stuff you will be served a small packet of paste.. looks like some kinda sauce..
Hesistantly I tried it.. and it was cool with the duck.
Last but not the least you have a set of chopsticks..
Its not too difficult to learn though I took some time..
You need to pick pieces of roasted duck dip it in the saucelike substance and place it in the middle of the rice cake and then fold it up and munch on.. Absolute bliss..

Directions: Walk south of Tianamen Square and take the road to the south west.. it is the most happening road from the Square so you wont miss it. Take the road which has a KFC sign board on the left side and walk on for 2 minutes.. The place is to the left

Well, I thought will add another page on this place as its description would have been partial.
This un has three branches from what i hear of which atleast two are close to Tianenmen Square. I visited the one at Qianmen which is closest to Tiananmen.
Just to explain what is this great duck all about..
Quan Ju De, ducks are immersed in spices etc etc which are unique to the restaurant and are then roasted directly over flames stoked by fruit-tree wood. The roasted duck is date-red, shining with oil, but with a crisp skin and tender meat.
From what I understood in my broken Mandarin, the Qianmen unit has two divisions. One is the fast food section
(where I ate) and the other un is more formal.. which table clothes and small round tables. So probably I didn't actually get to eat where Castro and the rest of the gang munched on a poor duck!

Well, this un takes the cake for Chinese chutzpah!
This fast food restaurant is a KFC lookalike and I guess many a people would have fallen into the trap other than me. Whats more one of its branch... near Tianenmen Square in Beijing is located right downstairs of a KFC. I forgot to click a picture but you can check this one out.... http://www.pbase.com/glutton/beijing_city
It is probably called Dr Chens but I don't really recall correctly.
I entered the place and was looking at chicken and more chicken and I found all kinds of animals(a lil exaggerated) on the menu and finally zilch KFC sign in the menu card but by then it was too late.
I wonder how come KFC has not sued the chain...but then where would it sue??So...

Favorite Dish: I had ordered sm rice and light chicken diced in shallow curry(negligible amount).
I did enjoy eating it though and wouldn't mind checking it out a second time if I am there.
