It's always hard to create a home page about a city that you live in. Especially when it's large and complex with rich cultural opportunities and breathtaking scenery. The fearsome blank page stares at you menacingly, challenging you to create something worthy and original that captures your experience there.
How much easier it is to capture the feel of a town I visited for only a few days where my impression is likely to remain unchanged until I visit again. My impression of Seattle changes all the time as I make new discoveries and as my moods change. But we should
never let perfect be the enemy of good. Part of what's nice about VT is the bite sized nature of the tips. I find that creating tips first helps me process my experience of a place so that the writing of the introductory page is much easier thereafter.
But I've been stuck on Seattle. Waiting for summer so I can take more pictures. Waiting for inspiration to summarize why I like it here so much. Waiting, waiting, ... waiting. I'm afraid you'll have to wait with me while I slowly create tips that are citywide or new pages for entire neighborhoods (see my
Fremont page).
Until that time, you should know that I'll be looking at Seattle with the eye of a local, trying to see the great sights but also trying to figure out what aspects of the human dimension here make this place so special.
Wish me luck.
