Welcome to Khovsgol National Park

This is the main gate of Khovsgol national park, mongolia. you can reach this area by your jeep, as public transport could be very difficult in mongolia. the entrance fee is about 1 usd per person per day, and 3 usd per vehicle. my korean friend managed to bribe the officers in the gate (not reccommended to do) so we paid less. I felt a bit guilty though, as this park is really deserve your fee.

Khovsgol is the largest lake in Mongolia, it's the sibbling brother of Baikal lake in Siberia. the scenery is superb. the lake is 120 km long, but we only had 2 days of time, so we only stayed in 2 sites only, Toilogt in the first night and Jankhai in the next.

Khovsgol Lake is probably the best place to camp in mongolia. There is endless fresh wter, plenty of fish, and hiking is outsanding. The negs side is the flies abound.

There are several sites on the western shore of the lake that easily reachable from Khatgal town, namely Jankhai and Toilogt. If you want to go further you might need horses or to hire the park's jeeps as private jeeps are not allowed to go through.

Thanks for sharing your photos. They're beautiful. I'm heading up to Hovsgol Lake next week. My plan is to enjoy a nice summer in Mongolia away from the heat in China.
