Lumajang, my hometown, is not a popular tourism spot in indonesia. most of guidebooks dont list it, and even most of indonesian dont know where it is. but surely, lumajang has more than enough to be worth of your visit. the small town is situated in southern part in east java province. it has some wild indian ocean beaches on its southern border. it also can provide mountain lovers with java's highest volcano, mt semeru. it also has several beautiful lakes and rivers.
these are pictures of watugodeg beach, located at the southern part of the town, just next to the border with malang. it needed 1.5 hrs drive from the town center. as any other beaches in this regency, there were almost no tourists at all. that's why you can really enjoy the tranquility here. |
