Indonesia, where I came from I am indonesian, a villager indonesian, from a tiny tiny village in the middle of nowhere in east java. now i am studying computer science in a famous university in beijing, which is also a hell of my live. i lost almost all of my chances travelling, but i get also the chance to travel and explore countries around china. for more pictures of my trip, check my personal homepage. |
| exploring the wild great wall |
| | China, my first experience well, it's not the first experience of independent travelling though. but as a chinese ethnic, i felt quite at home in china. the food, the people, the culture, all are fantastic. but now i have been 3 yrs already in beijing, there's nothing special anymore that i feel here. but the trip to wild great wall last year was also breathtaking. |
singapore well, it's a common destination for indonesians to go. nothing special actually, just a modern city, which is not my favorite. i prefer natural wonders. but the little india was superb. it was a glance to the exotic culture that i definitely want to experience | | | me, with a tamil costume bought in singapore |
|
| | thailand i have been there for 3 times. at the first visit i love bangkok very much. but now i feel there are too many tourists there, which sometimes quite annoying. well, bangkok is not my highlight though. i prefer the historical ayutthaya. |
mongolia is my real first experience of backpacking. camping on the grassland is a real adventure that you cant get anywhere else. i was robbed twice there, but it didnt prevent me from loving this "land of blue sky" | | | the grassland days in mongolia |
|
| the fantastic sunset over mekong |
| | laos the hospitality and honesty of the people surprised me very much. they are very poor there, but they are really honest. no robbery, no scams, no theft. all were very laid-back. and sunset of the mekong river was among the best. |
pakistan this country is always on "countries to be avoided" list. but i felt really at home there. i met pakistanis speaking indonesian language, i met the most hospitable people on the world, and i also experienced the friendly and easy hitch-hiking in northern pakistan. pakistan is a country of surprise though. | | |
| the man w/ 4 wives, band-e-amir |
| | afghanistan just returned from there last week, which is the highlight of all of my trips. hospitable people, amazing sceneries. it's difficult to describe, but who expects, i felt safer there than in my hometown. of course, mind of mines there. |
