I'm not sure whether it's because I'm used to the relative safety of Australian roads, but the road between Kuala Lumpur and the east coast was extremely dangerous. There are plenty of trucks traversing this road, many of them precariously loaded logging trucks. I think the rules are that you give way to any vehicle that is larger than you, becuase we saw plenty of smaller vehicles run off the road by impatient truckers who feel the need to overtake everyone, often into oncoming traffic. There are also cows and wild monkeys to negotiate!
