Halifax is a nice, straightforward, maritime city, with a strong sense of heritage.
We started our trans-Canada trip here, and found it an excellent and easy introduction to Canada. Of course, it is completely different from the other Canadian cities we visited (Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto and Vancouver), and is not unlike some of the UK's naval ports.
- Pros:Friendly; Walkable
- Cons:Very poor public transport information
- In a nutshell:A maritime city in the European mould
