Ravning is just 8km south of Jelling. From the map, you wouldn't think that there was anything much to see here, but down in the Vejle river valley there is the site of Harald Bluetooth's 10th century viking bridge.
The site of the 800m bridge is clearly visible, and there is a partial reconstruction, and an excellent little museum in the old station building close by (the railway is no longer there - it is a cycle route).
We found it quite by accident, but Andrew was over the moon that we had come across a viking site which he had read about, but had not realised that there was anything there to see.
The countryside around is also particularly attractive, with lots of steep-sided wooded river valleys. Well worth a little detour if you are visiting Jelling.
