"The lady of the camellias" Cannero Riviera by Manara
Cannero Riviera Travel Guide: 12 reviews and 17 photos
The title I have given to this page is due to the number of camellias I have seen in the gardens of Cannero.
One of the aspects of Cannero I like the most is that it's so small (it has about 1000 inhabitants), but has everything a lakeside town should have: a landing for the boats, marinas, a beautiful promenade, flower gardens, a beach, picturesque narrow streets with old houses, some hotels and old-style villas, some good restaurants. There is even a small river, and a waterfall.
Since I was a little girl I have always been fond of lakes, and especially of the kind of landscapes that can be seen from the banks of Lago Maggiore. Cannero is just one of the many lovely towns and villages that can be visited in this beautiful region. However, it has an advantage with respect to other more famous towns: in this Northern part of the lake there are no congress centres, hotels are not big, and the narrow streets of the villages are not suitable for tourists' buses. This explains why foreign visitors, who are many anyway, are not seen in large groups here: this area is more suitable for families or for couples.
- Pros:Picturesque, romantic and incredibly beautiful
- Cons:So small it can easily become overcrowded in high season
- In a nutshell:The quintessential Italian lake experience

Fine photos of this lovely region! (So far I have only seen it from the window of the train.)
Cannero Riviera is certainly a great and exciting tourist destination with great resorts and beautiful sceneries captured from your lovely photographs. We hope to visit the destination one day. Thanks for sharing. ~ho & pang
My camelias is flowering at the moment, so it was so nice to see your tip about them. ;-)
Great Picture, I remember rowing out to the island with the tower with other lads when we stayed at the School?/seminary? opposite on the Canarro side in the early 60's in the summer, Happy days! Lovely people, lovely town.
Beautiful views from this lovely little place Thanks for featuring it.
Non sono mai stata in questa parte del lago, ma vedo che devo assolutamente andarci, specialmente adesso che so che c'è posto per noi camperisti.
what an absolutely charming place
