A Weekend in Paris

by moirholj - last update: May 2, 2005

My first trip to Europe - what a thrill!

A typical Parisian bakery serving up sweets!
Above you can see a picture of my favorite memory from my all-too-short trip to Paris: The Parisian Bakery! I felt very accomplished being able to walk into any bakery in a residential area and successfully order, "un pain de chocolat svp". Then just sitting in a scenic spot enjoying the tasty treat and watching the parisian world go by.

The infamous toilet

The toilet of my nightmares...

How could my Paris homepage be complete without a tribute to the 'Turkish Toilet'. (Interestingly enough, I heard that Turkish people deny it originated in their country). In any event, if you look at the photo to the right you will see a fine specimen of this glorified hole in the ground... complete with little footie pads!

Pros:"A beautiful city that is lively in the arts."
Cons:"City is closed to smug Americans - Oh wait, just don't be a smug American! Problem Solved!"
In A Nutshell:"If you're not a snot, you will experience a lot!"

The "creepy" crypt you described is Georges Rodenbach, famos poet and writer. He wrote a famous book called Bruges La Mort. Did you notice the flower in his hand? Barry in Lafayette

Excellent tip. Don't let anyone bash you about it either! It was, after all, YOUR experience.

Parisians don't like tourist skating with them. A friend of mine who is from Paris and now lives in America told me they like for tourist to pay for the membership, and that is it. It helps raise their much needed funds.

Nice pages and tips ... including your "toilet of my nightmares..." and roller experience (sorry...). Behind that, I appreciate your "not binary" view. Thanks!
