| | What its about Well, apart from being the largest city in South Africa, and one of the fastest growing in the world, Jo'burg also has quite a reputation. A few short years ago it was rated the most dangerous city in the world, and central Jo'burg became a sort of "ghost town", with almost all major businesses packing up, and moving out to greener pastures, such as Sandton, Fourways, etc.
Thankfully thats changing now as the crime rate decreases. More people (and businesses) are prepared to move back into central jo'burg, and though it still has a long way to go, it all starting to look very rosy. |
Ok, touchy history in the past, what does Jo'burg actually have to offer the traveller? Quite a lot, it seems. From Sandton city, to Gold Reef city, the Johannesburg Zoo, Kyalami race course, cultural tours, and lots more. Most of Jo'burgs attractions are on the outlying areas of the city, which have been very well developed. | | | Nelson Mandela's statue in Nelson Mandela Square |

Lightning Crashes... Jo'burg is also commonly known as The Lightning Capital of the World, and for good reason! The storms that take place over this valley are absolutely amazing, and during the summer they occur almost every afternoon. We sit on our Balcony in Pretoria and watch them happening from afar. Beautiful. |
