This is definitely one of the most enchanting cities I have visited. It is not as cheap as you might expect being in Eastern Europe but you can certainly make your money go far if you avoid the obvious tourist traps!

 Alas, neither the Terrorhaza nor Statue Park were there back in the 80s. Mind you, the female attendants manning the private lift to the spa at the Hotel Gellert were built like terrifying statues! I still wake up at night in a cold sweat...

 Good tips there. And it is a right b**ger being there in winter with such poor light. I'd love to go back in summer, but so many places to visit and such little time!
