Fladungen, the nothern edge of Bavaria

by civilian - last update: Nov 24, 2006

Fladungen is the place where I spend the first 23 Years of my life. It is located in north of Bavaria. Till 1989 the iron curtain, separating Germany in west and east was only 2 km away.
Even if only 1200 people are living there it has the status of a city!
Fladungen has a very nice surounding, a region called Rhön. Have a look at webcams located at
Heidelstein
Wasserkuppe
Kreuzberg
and
Feuerberg
gangolfskapelle

bloody cold winters

Winters can be very cold there, and you can have snowfall as early as november and as late as April. Photos showes the Gangolfskappe, as small chappel just ouside the town.

The best thing to do with it!!!

On November 9 1989, first in Berlin, later everywhere in the country the poeple started to demolish the barricades seperating Germany. In my place, parts of the fence where be recycled for composting the leftovers in the garden!

great thing to do with it..........
iron fence

It is, indeed, beautiful! I live in a small community as well, but not nearly as lovely.

You have a lot of strength and a good heart to do the work you do. How good it must feel to come home to Fladungen to get together with family and friends! Cheers!
