With apologies to all of you for whom this is old news, I was born in Coatesville, Pennsylvania, USA in 1980, about 40 miles west of Philadelphia, and for the first 18 years of my life lived in the Coatesville vicinity. In my senior year of high school, I spent one week in Spain (more information on that trip will be forthcoming--eventually). I spent much of the next four years (1999-2003) in Ithaca, NY attending Cornell University.

This past year, I applied and was accepted to the JET Program, which sends English-speakers from around the world to Japan to teach in public schools. Before leaving the US in July, I took a trip across the country by plane and car. I now live in Matsubase, Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan, and will be here for at least the next year.
