Waikiki Sunset
I'll try to improve this section when I have more free time. In the meantime, please enjoy my Hawaii travel tips and my photo of a Hawaiian sunset taken during my last trip (in Dec 2003).

A little bit about Hawaii

Hawaii is the last state to join the USA, becoming a state in 1959. The eight main islands of Hawaii are (from west to east) Ni'ihau, Kaua'i, O'ahu, Moloka'i, Lana'i, Kaho'olawe, Maui, and Hawai'i (aka "The Big Island").

Quick Hawaii Facts: Did you know...?

- the Hawaiian Island chain is made up of 137 islands, islets, and shoals (of which, only seven islands are inhabited)

- Hawaii has the only royal palace in the United States ('Iolani Palace)

- the wettest spot on earth is Wai‘ale‘ale (Kaua‘i's highest mountain) which records about 485 inches of rainfall per year

- the Big Island is home to the longest continuously erupting volcano in recorded history (Kilauea Caldera on the Big Island has been producing a lava flow since January 1983)
